Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)

Any e-data with reference to patients' health details and other related information is managed and secured using the recommendations provided by this regulatory body.

This act includes five sections:

  • Title 1: This section defines health insurance for people who have been removed from their jobs
  • Title 2: This is used by the US Department of Health and Human Services to develop standards for healthcare transactions through e-commerce
  • Title 3: This section manages tax-related details for healthcare
  • Title 4: This section defines the health policy creation or changes for people who look for continued healthcare coverage
  • Title 5: This defines guidelines for providing company insurance to US citizens who have lost their citizenship due to income tax issues
