Reading text files

PDI offers several steps to read text files. In the tutorial, we used the most generic one, the Text file input step.  The following table summarizes the options:

Despite not having the textbox Accept filename from previous step, the CSV file input step does accept a filename. When you create a link from a step toward a CSV file input step, a new textbox is added to its configuration window for specifying the filename field. The same occurs with the GZIP CSV input step.
